Dr. Dan Crocker
Dr. Dan Crocker is a native of Franklin, KY. He is the third son of Helen and the late Dr. Kenneth Crocker. “Dr. Dan” graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1979 and the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. Dr. Crocker founded Crocker Animal Hospital in 1989. The first facility was built in 1990 and a major remodel and expansion of the building was completed in 2014. Professionally, Dr. Dan Crocker is interested in all areas of small and large animal veterinary practice. The majority of his work continues to be with equine and food animal cases and embryo transfer.
Dr. Dan Crocker is married to Dr. Roni Crocker and they have a son and a daughter. The Crockers have raised their kids along with sheep, horses, cows, hay and grapes on a working farm in the Hickory Flatts community in East Simpson County since 1987. His hobbies include wine making, playing the guitar and banjo, farming and traveling.
Dr. Roni M. Crocker
Dr. Roni Crocker assisted Dr. Dan Crocker, her husband, in starting his practice in 1990. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Eastern Kentucky University in 1980, Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University in 1984 and a Certification in Canine Rehabilitation Therapy from University of Tennessee in 2011.
Dr. Roni’s professional interests are in small animal surgery, canine rehabilitation therapy and hospital administration. She is an avid supporter of Franklin Simpson High School’s band program and Simpson County’s 4H and FFA programs. Dr. Roni’s spare time is spent between her family and farm.
Dr. Karen Reesor
Dr. Karen Reesor is originally from Barren County, Ky. She attended Western Kentucky University for her pre-veterinary undergraduate studies. She graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She practiced in Brandenburg, Ky. for 2 years. She started working at Crocker Animal Hospital in 1998 and became a partner in 2003.
She and her husband, Mike, live on a small farm in Simpson County with their 3 dogs, 5 cats, a few cattle, and 1 horse. She enjoys gardening and camping and spending time with her husband and family.
Dr. Amy Wyatt Gant
Dr. Amy Wyatt Gant was born in Clarksville, TN and grew up just outside of Atlanta in Grayson, GA. She attended the University of Georgia and graduated with a B.S in Animal Health in 1998, and then attended veterinary school at UGA, graduating in 2001. She joined Crocker Animal Hospital as an associate in May of 2001 and in February of 2009, she became a partner in the practice.
Dr. Gant has a special interest in small animal medicine and surgery, canine reproduction and small ruminant medicine and surgery, but she enjoys all aspects of mixed animal practice. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners. In her time off Dr. Gant enjoys baking, gardening and backpacking.
Dr. Tina Brown
Dr. Tina Brown hails from Covington, Kentucky, a community on the Ohio River. But her feet have found her in Southcentral Kentucky for the majority of her adult life. She completed a Bachelor of Science degree at Western Kentucky University in Animal Science and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Auburn university. Professionally, Dr. Brown has a special interest in dermatology and helping clients get off to a good start with their four-legged friends.
During her leisure time, Dr. Brown enjoys gardening, preserving the food that she grows, cooking, reading and traveling to see and photograph the United States and a little of the rest of the world. She and her husband, Herb, have three children and two grandchildren.
Dr. Jaclyn Waddell
Dr. Jaclyn Waddell is originally from Lewisport, KY. Dr. Waddell attended Western Kentucky University majoring in agriculture for three years before moving on to Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated from Auburn with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. Dr. Waddell began working at Crocker Animal Hospital in June shortly after graduation. She became a partner in January 2021.
Dr. Waddell enjoys mixed animal practice but has a special interest in small animal medicine and dentistry. Her off days are spent with her husband and two daughters taking trips or hanging around the farm
Dr. Claire Crocker
Dr. Claire Crocker is a native Franklin, Kentucky and is the daughter of Drs. Dan and Roni Crocker. Dr. Claire attended Murray State University, majoring in Pre-Veterinary Medicine, before attending veterinary school at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Claire joined Crocker Animal Hospital as an associate in May of 2018. She became a partner in January 2021.
She grew up on a farm and enjoys mixed animal practice. Her special interests include: soft tissue surgery, small ruminants, orthopedics and porcine medicine. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and her pets.
Dr. Eden Tharpe
Dr. Eden Tharpe is originally from Glendale, Kentucky. Dr. Tharpe attended Western Kentucky University majoring in Pre-Veterinary Medicine, before attending Auburn university College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Tharpe graduated from Auburn in May 2021. Upon graduation, Dr. Tharpe completed a large animal and equine field services internship at Auburn University. She joined Crocker Animal Hospital as an associate in July 2022.
She grew up on an Angus farm and enjoys mixed animal practice. Her special interests are soft tissue surgery, small ruminants and small animal medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, working out, traveling and spending time with her family and pets.
Dr. Mary Johnson
Dr. Mary Johnson was born and raised in Green County, Kentucky. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Asbury University in 2017 before going on to obtain a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Auburn University in 2021. She joined Crocker Animal Hospital as an associate in January 2024.
Dr. Johnson and her husband Ian (who is also a veterinarian) have 4 dogs, 3 cats and 2 goats. In her spare time, she enjoys riding horses, being outside, and spending time with family. Her career passions are equine medicine, dermatology, and small animal soft tissue surgery, but Dr. Johnson loves all aspects of veterinary medicine.
Dr. Lloyd Elliott
Dr. Lloyd Elliott, Jr. passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017, just days after his 50th birthday.
Growing up on a hog farm in Estill Springs, Tenn., Dr. Elliott learned to appreciate nature and animals. His parents and extended family fostered a desire to explore, to excel, to discover how things work, to laugh, to follow God and to respect himself and his neighbor. Dr. Elliott was the son of the late Lloyd Elliott, Sr. and Virginia Smith Elliott of Estill Springs, Tenn. His wife and soul mate is Laura Benton Pulliam Elliott. Their twin sons are Ben and Jack Elliott of Franklin, KY. Dr. Elliott worked at Crocker Animal Hospital for 25 years.
He graduated from Franklin County High School in Winchester, Tenn. and from the University of Tennessee as an undergrad and veterinarian. Dr. Elliott was active in Sulfur Spring Baptist Church where he served and was served in many ways. Dr. Elliott had traveled on mission trips to Eastern Kentucky and Nicaragua, where he used veterinary medicine to share God’s word. Travels with his family took him to New England, the Pacific Northwest, the American West, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, France and Morocco, but his favorite place was home.
An outpouring of love for Dr. Elliott during his illness and passing reinforced how many of God’s creatures – those with two legs and four – appreciated Dr. Elliott’s kindness, professionalism, friendship, flexibility, generosity, resourcefulness and Christian character. His legacy lives on at Crocker Animal Hospital through all the lives he touched and the exceptional care he gave his patients.
