Large Animal

Your horse or cattle herd, sheep or goat flock, is an investment in time, energy, and money. Crocker Animal Hospital offers professional support to maximize your livestock venture. Equine and bovine operations depend upon healthy production levels and our veterinarians are experienced in the most modern practices to support your goals. Highly skilled in herd management, disease prevention, and reproductive services, we work with you to create a veterinary care plan tailored to your business and personal needs.

Ambulatory

At Crocker Animal Hospital we realize you are not always able to bring your horse or cattle to the clinic for needed examinations or treatment. We pride ourselves in being able to offer many of the same services we can do at the clinic on the farm. Crocker Animal Hospital maintains several fully stocked ambulatory trucks. We are able to perform examinations, vaccinations, minor surgical procedures and equine dental work at the convenience of your own farm. We schedule farm calls Monday through Friday. Emergency visits will be handled as quickly as possible.

Internal Medicine/ Critical Care

At the Rancho (our large animal facility) we are able to diagnose, manage, and treat serious veterinary illnesses and diseases. We can provide 24-hour care for horses, cattle and small ruminants.

Surgery

We are able to perform many procedures, both standing and under general anesthesia, including castrations, dehorning/disbudding, wound and laceration repair, labor and delivery/C-sections and hernia repair. We have recovery facilities at all locations for animals that need to stay in the hospital after surgery.

Dentistry

We can provide full service dental care for your horse. In order to do a complete oral exam your horse will need to be sedated. Dentistry services we perform include manual teeth float, power teeth float, removal of wolf teeth, X-ray of abnormal/diseased teeth and extraction of diseased teeth.

Laboratory

Our in-house laboratory allows us to perform serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. These prompt results allow for a quicker diagnosis and start of treatment. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostic testing and consultations.

Advanced Imaging

Crocker Animal Hospital considers the use of advanced imaging technology a critical tool in modern diagnostic procedures. This equipment gives us a non-invasive way to observe internal physiology so that we can provide a more thorough and accurate diagnosis.  We are equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, and flexible and rigid endoscopy.

Pharmacy

We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals and vitamins for large animals. If you are looking for a specialty medical item that we do not carry, please let us know – perhaps we will be able to obtain it for you. All animals receiving medication must have a current veterinary-client-patient relationship. Some medications do require periodic blood tests. We will keep you informed if those are needed.

Emergency

We handle all of our after hours emergencies out of our Franklin, KY location. Emergencies can be handled both in the clinic or on the farm. You do not need to be a regular client at our animal hospitals to take advantage of our emergency services.
